or a long time I have been fascinated with visual images that are presented to us in popular culture, how these images reflect and shape our lives. Much of my work employs imagery and text found within popular music, film, T.V and advertising. This work explores the formative powers of everyday images in relation to our sense of identity. Conversely my abstract work is inspired by places I have visited and offers freedom from the ‘loaded’ images prescribed by the media.

My paintings aim to evoke an emotional state or experience, be it through the use of characters and interiors or colour and form.

Born in a log cabin in the darklands of Montana, the love child of a Latter Day Saint and a microbrewery, Kabyn was named thus so as to impose boundaries, both temporal and creative.

‘Everything belongs to design, everything springs from it whether it says so or not, the body is designed, sexuality is designed, political, social, human relationships are all designed just as are needs and aspirations.’

Jean Baudrillard
